Acquired by Cisco in 2007 for 3.2 billion dollars, WebEx is the leading live meeting software provider in the world and has a strong presence in the remote support arena. The software is SaaS deployed and one of the most expensive of the hosted solutions, with individual licenses costing $150 per month and up. We assume that is how they afford to pay for all their radio and print advertising programs and, our absolute favorite, the constant plugs on the TV show 24. Having Jack Bauer promote your product is really cool. Probably not cheap, but really cool.
The WebEx remote support product leverages a lot of the meeting software tools such as file transfer, chat, and video. The WebEx technician interface is unframed, which can be a bit confusing as technicians try to navigate to their own desktop or switch sessions, but is preferred by some users. The interface has been described by our customers as complete, but confusing at times.
ScreenConnect has no recurring monthly fees like WebEx because it is self-hosted on your network. Hosted solutions like WebEx require interfacing with third party servers and require monthly fees for each licensed user.
