Cost Overview

In the most straight-forward comparison, a TeamViewer Premium License costs 4.6x as much as a ScreenConnect Concurrent Session License1.

What could you buy with the money you would spend on 10 TeamViewer Corporate Licenses? ($28,390)
  • 1x Unlimited ScreenConnect License ($4,000)
  • 10x 16GB iPads ($5,000)
  • 10x 17" Dell laptops ($7,000)

And you would have enough left for one of these:

  • 2013 Harley VROD
  • Bahama Cruise for Five
  • 1 really, really good night in Vegas

COMMENTS :-)

ScreenConnect Good:

... There are much more expensive options that are simply less effective than ScreenConnect. Trust me, we have tried them ALL!

-- Chris Burnum @ ScreenConnect Testimonials

ScreenConnect from Elsinore is a great product, and their sales staff has been friendly and helpful (we were using TeamViewer, but their prices are outrageous)...

-- Shopper @ Google Checkout Reviews

... Elsinore Technologies was nice enough to extend my trial period for testing ScreenConnect remote support software. This is an awesome desktop support program and is a must have solution for IT professionals and departments of all sizes. The best desktop support program I have ever used!

-- KentK @ Google Checkout Reviews

I dare anyone out there to find a similar self hosted remote software with the same feature set for a lower cost!

-- bigdessert @ ScreenConnect Forum

I've used several products before and I will say for ScreenConnect is by far the most cost effective out there. I've used products with no web console and some with. ScreenConnect offers many features that I wish were in some of the more expensive solutions...

-- etaftm @ ScreenConnect Forum

I challenge you to find another product with the same feature set for anywhere close to that cost. Before I purchased, I tried every one out there. You just can't find another product like this for anywhere close to this price.

-- scottmcd9999 @ ScreenConnect Forum

Every other tool is a PIA to use. A client can call me when I'm driving around town and I can flip it up on my ipad or phone in seconds, SECONDS, that means everything to a customer, that within a minute of them calling you're on their machine.

-- ComputerHero @ ScreenConnect Forum

TeamViewer Bad:

Same here, just upgraded from 6 to 7 because of the nags of mismatches. I was quite happy to stay at 6 but it just became a pain. Obviously part of their strategy to get you to upgrade.

-- Martyn @ Technibble

I know what you mean about crappy licensing! I bought V6 about 8 months before v7 came out and I couldn't believe the price to upgrade ... They even sent me a fancy PDF showing the discount -- I had a good laugh.

-- ClickRight @ Technibble

I think Teamviewer's upgrade policy and pricing sucks. I only upgraded to version 7 five months ago after getting sick of version mismatches with clients. Now I'm expected to pay the full upgrade price to move to version 8. When I contacted them to complain they offered me a £5 discount.....

-- Fixedathome.com @ Technibble

...I had to do it again I wouldn't buy it. 3 months after I purchased Teamviewer 6 Teamviewer 7 came out and they wanted another $700 to upgrade. I didn't of course but as has already been noted it is a major pain when someone already has Teamviewer 7 installed. I appealed to them to throw in the upgrade since I had just purchased, but they different give. Too bad... Good program ruined by crappy licensing.

-- CTNorthShore @ Technibble

Though I wish some other company would come by and crush them into oblivion ... The license upgrades, good god its ridiculous ... the newer version may already be on your clients computer and they can not open your teamviewer quick support until they close it out completely (not so easy to walk elderly customers through doing that) and you can not connect to newer versions of teamviewer unless you upgrade your license...

TeamViewer

TeamViewer is arguably the most recognizable name in the remote support industry. TeamViewer offers both a commercial and free version of its software. The free version has quite the internet following and provides a great service but is monitored against commercial use. The commercial version ranges from $749 to $3,569 USD per license based on feature set and accessibility.

ScreenConnect and TeamViewer are similar in that they are both one-time purchases that provide a single available solution for remote support, remote access, and remote meetings. The main difference between the two products is pricing, UI design, and scalability.

ScreenConnect vs. TeamViewer

How do you compare with TeamViewer?

It’s tough to compare the products apples to apples because of the dramatic differences in licensing. Generally speaking ScreenConnect is around 1/3 the price of a TeamViewer Business license.

When comparing feature sets ScreenConnect relates closest to TeamViewer Premium or Corporate licenses. Both tools have an extensive list of offerings geared around remote support, though TeamViewer may have a few more features.

Overall we feel ScreenConnect's implementation is as strong in most use models to that of TeamViewer. Additionally, ScreenConnect is self-hosted so it resides inside your network which increases security and configuration control.

TeamViewer allows multiple simultaneous sessions with their license, why doesn’t ScreenConnect?

TeamViewer allows 3 simultaneous sessions between the host and guests with a single Corporate license. ScreenConnect allows unlimited simultaneous connections between the host and guest, but the host can interact with only one customer at a time. The hosts can easily navigate between guests in queue limiting the number of licenses they need.

What are the licensing differences?

TeamViewer licenses per workstation, while ScreenConnect is concurrent use. What that means is that for a standard TeamViewer Business license to be used by other people it would cost an additional $139 per computer or you would have to purchase a Premium or Corporate license. ScreenConnect allows unlimited access from any computer in the world — no pre-installed software is required.

Why doesn’t ScreenConnect have a personal use or free version of their software?

We have considered releasing a personal use license, but we would only do so if we felt we could provide something that would be different than the current free offerings. We launched ScreenConnect because we felt the industry prices of BOMGAR®, TeamViewer, and the various hosted solutions were too expensive, and the free tools were not reliable.

Why choose ScreenConnect over TeamViewer?

If you are looking for every bell and whistle imaginable, TeamViewer may be the answer. In turn, you will be paying a premium for the software. Their most comparable product, a TeamViewer Corporate license ($3,569), is approximately 11 times the cost of a ScreenConnect license. We don’t have every feature of TeamViewer, but we provide a solid feature set at an affordable price which makes us an ideal low-cost TeamViewer alternative.

3x SC $325 vs 1x TV Corporate $2,839 = 2.9x (most equal license types)
1x SC 5 pack $1,400 vs 1x TV Corporate $2,839 plus 2x addon channel $989 = 3.4x
